Oh Canada!

08/20/2008

It’s common knowledge around town that the TMH girls (and the obvious DBJ girls) are fans of the Canadian boys. *

* We enjoy Canadian boys.

And with less than one week of the 2008 Olympics left, last night we were introduced to yet another reason to love the maple leaf males:
Silver Medalist Diver Alexandre Despatie!

Now that's a man, aye?

Monkey Business

08/19/2008

"OH MY GOD! DID YOU SEE THIS?!"

Comic relief at TMH has taken residence on our refrigerator (along with the Sprinkles cupcake menu and cute cards from Mrs. Holly Howe).

This months source has been a little guy named “Whiplash”.
We discovered Whiplash in an issue of People magazine and it has been monkey rodeo love ever since.

*Unfortunately, this is not Tito.

The Dog Days of Summer

08/14/2008

It’s Official!
TMH has joined forces with the AZ Humane Society.
Megan and I attended our foster parent meeting last night and are ready to start saving lives of animals in need.
We are so excited!
Tito is going to have a new brother or sister any day now!

In other TMH news:
WE ARE MELTING!

The A/C is on the fritz and we are living in a hot house. (I believe that’s two fold!)

Tori Tuesday

08/12/2008

I absolutely LOVE Tori Spelling!

Last week at the Blockbuster (it was a Sunday Funday to be exact) I found the entire first season on So NoTORIous for $3. If that’s not a steal, I don’t know what is!
- Side Note: DO NOT get a gumball from the Blockbuster on Hayden & Chaparral.

This week I have watched the first 5 episodes of the ten and I can’t get enough!

And that amazing find brought me another stroke of good luck….
Whilst ordering the fight on Saturday I was informed by Cox that TMH could have the “variety tier” instead of the “movie tier”.
Being that we didn’t even know we had a movie tier, I jumped ship and switched tiers.
The “variety tier” includes the Oxygen channel.
The Oxygen channel is home to “Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood”.

Its been DVR overload ever since!
And there’s a new episode on tonight!

Tori Tuesday almost makes up for the cancellation of Joaquin Sunday. Almost.

Good Luck Chuck!

08/11/2008

Today we said goodbye to a male who always showed up at the wrong time, made Stephanie want to vomit, often induced tears and all in all was a real pain in the gut. His name was Chuck* and he will not be missed. No moment of silence is requested.

*Chuck: Stephanie’s gallbladder.

Weekend Recap

08/11/2008

Friday night’s opening ceremonies did not disappoint!
Tito and I fully enjoyed the march of the nations, the lighting of the Olympic torch and the fireworks spectacular.

I won the cartwheel competition (i only have 2 legs so its easier) and Tito won the relay.
And by he won, I clearly mean I let him win because I was too tired after all the cartwheels.

Saturday night was FIGHT NIGHT!
TMH was pleased to host the ppv fight on Saturday.
Although the turn out wasn’t what we had envisioned, I think it was perfect.

Pre fight festivities included a made up drinking game of WAR. (This tapped out at 2 minutes in the first round due to boredom and the fact that it’s not a real drinking game)*
*pun was intended.

Megan was a first timer at the UFC but by beginning of the Roger Huerta fight she was cheering just as loud as the rest of us. (I think her cheers may have just been over the short shorts but those were something to get excited over!)

Sadly, El Matador lost the fight. A XX was consumed in his honor.

The GSP fight on the other hand DID NOT disappoint.
George is an amazing fighter and I can not understand ½ of the words that come out of his mouth. God Bless Him!

An interesting tidbit on GSP: He is on the cover of Men's Health this month.*
Check it out at your local Walgreen's as I did. It's worth the read.
*I can't be certain the magazine is actually Men's Health. I couldn't read the name over the muscles.

Sunday Funday was spent at Trader Joe’s, Ulta, Barnes & Noble and Smoothie King.
We also played the popular TMH game “How do you say….?” *
*”How do you say…?” is a game to play when bored. All you do is ask someone how they say certain words.
Example: How do you say….tomato?
Person A: tomato (pronounced tomato)
Person B (and clearly the loser): tomato (pronounced toe-mah-toe)

Joaquin Sunday had to be cancelled.
Tentatively rescheduled for next Sunday. And all other Sundays until I get bored with it.

Putting the LL in oLLympics

08/08/2008
The starting day of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
A day considered highly favorable in the Chinese culture.

Not to take away any of that but, this is also the day LL’s BLOG takes residency on your favorites list.
I have been avoiding the idea for quit some time but believe it’s finally time to give in.
I have a vision of greatness and do not want to let myself down.

What can you expect to look forward to? That my friends, I am not entirely sure of.
But, I can tell you it will be FABULOUS.
A sort of answer to the question I know everyone ponders daily “I wonder what sort of shenanigans are going on in Lisa’s brain today?”

A note to the reader: just as Rachel Ray has her “EVOO” and “Yum O”. LL also has a list of frequently used words you may not know. DON’T WORRY! As the words/phrases are introduced I will make you aware of their meanings and in certain circumstances I may offer suggestions of how you too can incorporate them into your everyday jargon. (This is how trends catch on!)

If you LOVE it, you’re welcome and I am smiling because of that.
If you don’t love it, I don’t want to know.

OK so let’s get started!
Today I am sooo excited to watch the opening ceremonies on TV (I wore a full red white and blue ensemble in honor of the USA Olympians).
I think if I pack the house full of bicycles, flags, bowls of rice and weird smells it would be exactly as if I am in Beijing.
Then ill set of a few bottle rockets in the backyard and seal the deal.

Since the girls won’t be home tonight, I’m thinking of inviting a few more people over for the occasion.
For one, it seems silly to go thru the process of turning TMH* into Beijing just for Tito** and me.
And two, I’m envisioning relay races up and down Lincoln and a cartwheel competition down Granite Reef.

* TMH: the residence of myself, Stephanie and Megan.
** Tito: Our imaginary pet dog.
